When I’m out shooting a sporting event for Sideline Studios my Canon 400mm lens attracts a lot of attention and inquiry. Usually the parent with the Rebel trying to shoot the game from the stands is the one asking the questions about my camera gear. I’m always happy to stop and talk gear with them… after all, I was in their position, minus the parenting part, when I first started with photography.

When I’m covering outdoor sports such as Football, Soccer, Lacrosse and Baseball I’m almost always shooting with the Canon 1D MarkIII body and the Canon 400mm Mark II lens. Occasionally I might have a second body with the 70-200 lens on it.
